How to Scan and Stamp a Wallet Loyalty Card
Stamping is fast on purpose: the customer holds up their pass, you scan, the pass updates within a second or two. No app to open on the customer side.
Stamping a customer
- Open the Scan tab in the merchant app.
- Point your phone's camera at the QR code on the customer's pass.
- A confirmation card slides up showing the customer's name and current stamp count.
- Tap "Add stamp". The pass updates via wallet push within seconds.
Redeeming a reward
When a customer hits the stamp threshold, the pass automatically shows the reward as redeemable. Scan again — the confirmation card now shows a green "Redeem" button. Tap it to claim the reward and reset the card to zero stamps.
Handling edge cases
Customer left their phone at home
Look them up by name in the Customers tab and tap "Add stamp manually". A note is added to the audit log so multiple staff can't double-stamp the same visit.
Scan camera not focusing
Ask the customer to increase screen brightness. Most scan failures are dim-screen problems, not camera problems.
Customer lost their phone
Send them the recovery link from their customer profile. They can re-add the same pass on a new device using the email they signed up with.
Frequently asked questions
Can two staff scan the same customer at once?
The audit log prevents accidental double-stamping within a short window. The second tap is silently ignored and the customer keeps one stamp.
Does the customer have to be online to receive the stamp?
Yes for the wallet push to land instantly. If they're offline, the pass updates the next time it syncs, usually within a minute of regaining connection.
